This is a Collins R-390 radio receiver. It was using by the Army Signal
Corps starting about 1950. (I'm not sure when they stopped, but there might
actually be some of these still floating around in the military so I didn't
include an end-date!!) I recently finished initial restoration of my radio (replaced about 15 tubes-- there are 32 in this radio!). I listen to Ron Santo and Pat Hughes on WGN Radio 720. Sometimes I turn on the television and mute it (my apologies to the Steve and Chip). The radio is extremely selective and pretty stable (doesn't drift). For those out there that are knob-freaks, this is the radio for you! |
